
Woods House is proud to announce two new additions to our teaching staff. Molly Filer, flute instructor, and Melanie Nees, piano and beginning saxophone instructor. Ms. Flier is a Twisp, WA native with a degree from The Manhattan School of Music and a strong background in performance and education. Ms Nees is an experienced piano instructor and performer who relocated to the Wenatchee Area in 2003.

Auditions for both Youth Symphony and Academy Orchestra and for chamber music ensembles will be held at the Woods House Conservatory on Wednesday, September 15th from 5:00 PM-9:00 PM, located at 323 1 st Street in Wenatchee. Academy Orchestra players will be heard from 5:00-6:00 PM. Youth Symphony String players will be heard from 6:00-8:00 PM; wind, brass and percussion players will be heard from 8:00-9:00 PM.

After a full day of great local music, judges and audience members selected the top 5 bands out of the 10 Semi-Finalists.
The top 5 bands, who will compete in the finals on September 18th are (in random order): Ghost Power, Audio Arcade, Poor Folks Live Well, Mugsy's Groove and Steev Turner.

The Wenatchee Jazz Workshop has begun fund-raising activities for the 2011 Workshop to be held in February. The workshop allows jazz students in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee schools to work with 6 of the country's finest jazz musicians in an intensive week long workshop.

If you have musical knowledge and a willingness to share that knowledge with young musicians, please contact your schools and make yourself available to volunteer in the music program.
The more individual attention young musicians get, the quicker they can learn and the more they enjoy studying music. Please consider being a helper for a school music teacher, and an inspiration to music students.
